Summer 2012 Workshops

Our summer workshop program, "The Interactive Classroom in the Digital Age," is a series of workshops on teaching and learning. The format, which includes breakfast and lunch on all three days, allows faculty to immerse themselves in a survey of teaching strategies that can help increase interactivity and student engagement in their courses. Participants may sign up for all three days or choose "a la carte" which workshops to attend.

Acrobat Connect is a flash based application that allows you to have real-time, multi-point meetings and class sessions that participants can access through a web browser. The New Everyday: A Media Commons Project is a collaboratively authored web publication edited by Nick Mirzoeff, professor of Media, Culture and Communication at NYU. The format is described as something "between a blog and a journal" and contributors are encouraged to propose curated "clusters" of conversation around a single topic. The title, "The New Everyday," draws attention to the fact that what the editor calls "the era of globalized digital media" is so fully upon us as to be considered mundane. Read More »
