Required Technology Skills |
Basic Technical Skills for Faculty
- Ability to post materials in Moodle: embedded, as attachments, and in form of links;
- Ability to create and manage a discussion forum in Moodle;
- Ability to create and administer surveys, quizzes and/or tests in Moodle;
- Ability to publish students grades via the Moodle gradebook;
- Ability to guide students through the online course environment;
- Knowledge and ability to install necessary “plug-ins” for this course;
- Ability to identify commonly accessible file formats and how to save them;
- Have an understanding of how to provide material in a manner accessible to students with disabilities;
- Ability to resize graphics so they can be easily viewed in Moodle;
- Knowledge on how to set up an E-reserve with the library, and how to make it available to students via Moodle.

Basic Technical Skills for Students
- Familiarity with copying and pasting text.
- Ability to save/download files to a local PC/Mac.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn the online course delivery platform (i.e., Moodle).
- Ability to open and save email attachments to a local machine, and attach documents to emails.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint software.
- If you experience technological trouble or difficulty with the course content, it is your responsibility to contact the instructor immediately.

Basic Technology Requirements
- A reliable Internet connection; you may need to access the Internet several times a day. Broadband connections offered by cable or DSL are essential.
- Mozilla Firefox for PCs or Macs. Please note that if you use AOL as your Internet service provider, you must also have Firefox installed in order to properly access Adelphi’s online courses. (link to free download)
- Office productivity software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint viewer)
- Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download) (link to free download)
