Sample Course Development Timeline |

The timeline below details the steps involved in developing an online course. Following it will help you stay on track so that your course is ready to teach on time. The steps are presented in a particular order, but you can reorganize them to suit your needs. If you have questions about any of these steps, please contact the FCPE.
In June
- Contact your FCPE liaison Susan Lambert at 516.877.4225 or via email at slambert@adelphi.edu
- Access to all relevant accounts (eCampus, Moodle, Groupwise)
- Access to your Moodle course
- Develop course syllabus
- Develop a module-based course outline with learning objectives for each module
- Set-up Moodle modules (topics)
- Familiarize yourself with software tools (Respondus, communication tools, OpenMind, Turnitin)
- Develop detailed course outline including all activities and module dates
July 1st Detailed course outline completed.
Discuss completed 'Course Outline Template' with Susan Lambert (FCPE).
In July
- Develop and collect course materials for introduction module and one other module of your choice (including text, images, sound, video, animation, or other learning objects as desired)
- Write full course information module from beginning to end
- Write all instructions regarding expectations, communication, and submission procedures
- Compile required plug-ins, hardware, and software
- Load materials into Moodle
July 15 Introduction module and one other course module of your choice completed in Moodle.
Discuss modules with Susan Lambert (FCPE).
Also in July
- Collect and develop all remaining course materials (including text, images, sound, video, animation or other learning objects as desired)
- Utilize submitted detailed course outline
- Write all course modules
- Upload all course materials into Moodle course
- Set-up grade book
- Review and test all course materials including links and activities (FCPE students can help)
August 15 Entire course completed.
Course content should be ready for testing by Susan Lambert and FCPE student technologists.
August 20 All revisions need to be implemented in the Moodle course.
Make course available to registered students. |
