This
information is life sustaining and life enhancing. Using this
information can put food on a table and a roof overhead. It can add
dollars to an empty or shrunken wallet. It can trade economic
straits for modest comfort. It can mean health care coverage instead
of neglected health. It can make the difference between finding
grants or loans to pay for college and either working too many hours
or passing up higher education altogether. It can provide knowledge
on which to base planning and advocacy for better social care.
The 70 federal, state, and local programs described here--
all available in New York State-were enacted at different times and
under different conditions. They are not a system, but Government
Money for Everyday People treats them
systematically. |
