As technology is changing, the educational profession has to stay in sync. That is why the vision of the FCPE has changed over the years. In 2003 the faculty center for technology focussed on an new angle; e-learning activities and on effective ways to present knowledge in a visual manner.

We offer guidance in using a course mannagement software, Blackboard, to support face to face classes, for a hybrid modality and as a stand-alone online course environment. We support video conferencing activities, to reach out from our Garden City campus to the Soho and Hauppauge branches, and vice versa.

We are convinced that in order to provide good e-learning opportunities we have to focus on the course details and yet keep the larger learning goals in mind. Existing syllabi and strategies need to be re-evaluated and modified to promote quality education at Adelphi using these new teaching tools. We work with faculty, either on a one-on-one basis or via seminars, and apply the best instructional strategies to suit course objectives and target audiences.

At Adelphi we are proud that many faculty have taken on the challenge to explore new teaching tools and we encourage all of you to experiment and 'keep going'. There are so many great opportunities for better teaching and learning with technology out there waiting to be discovered and applied by faculty!
