Workshops on Moodle and on easy lecture recording techniques.

Workshops will be offered on how to use Moodle and on how to record your lectures and demonstrations. For faculty who cannot make it to campus, some workshops will be given remotely via Google Hangouts and Adobe Connect.

Tutorials

Faculty Digital Studio, Alumnae Hall, Room 128

The FCPE has an educational media recording studio for faculty to reserve and use. Faculty can use the state of the art space in Alumnae Hall, Room 126 to create PowerPoint voice over narrations, record audio lectures, create video tutorials and more. Assistance with how to use the room is available. Please contact x4221 to reserve a 1.5 hour block of time in the studio during office hours or to make an appointment for assistance. Faculty may also check out a key to access the studio for longer periods during evenings and weekends by contacting x4221.

Faculty Walk-In and Call-In Support Lab (appointments also available)

Walk-in and call-in support for faculty is available in Alumnae Hall, Room 01, Monday—Thursday 9:00 a.m.—7:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 am—5 pm.

FCPE Instructional Media Lab

The staff in the FCPE’s Instructional Media Lab can walk you through the use of digital educational media. Areas of specialization include lecture and podcast recording, use of iPads and more.

Instructional Contingency Planning

A Moodle course for faculty has been created for teaching during emergencies, campus closings or other disruptions. Please visit the site to sign in and self-enroll with your universal username and password. We will update the course with additional resources on how to use instructional technologies in the event of an emergency or campus closing.

  • Moodle Discussion Forums, Quizzes and Assignments
    For information on how to create Moodle discussion forums, quizzes and assignments please visit our online Moodle tutorials. Sign up for a workshop here.
  • Lecture Recording Directly to YouTube
    • Tools needed: USB Webcam or Built-in Webcam, or iPad/iPhone. No additional software is required! *We recommend using a wired connection to the internet if possible to ensure faster upload speeds and better quality.
    • Teaching Activity: With this built-in feature from YouTube, you can record a lecture directly to your Adelphi YouTube channel. It’s fast, and easily accessible for your students to view. After you’ve recorded your lecture, simply paste the link into your Moodle course shell for your students to view.

  • Google Hangouts
    • Definition – Google Hangouts is a video conferencing and collaboration tool already available to you as part of the Google Suite. Up to 10 people can connect from computers, laptops, and many mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android). Also, by enabling the Hangouts On Air feature, you can broadcast hangouts and record them as Youtube videos.
    • Teaching Activity – Google Hangouts is great for holding small online class discussions (there’s a 10 person maximum), online office hour video chats, virtual meetings, online collaborations (it can work in conjunction with Google Docs and Youtube), and even broadcasting and archiving lecture content.
